Aeschylus, Sophocles, and Euripides: masters of Greek tragedy whose works set the foundations of western dramatic art. During the 5th century BC, they authored a combined total of at least 270 plays and won the City Dionysia dramatic competition at Athens 36 times. Also innovators in the area of dramatic production, they introduced the concepts of the trilogy, use of scenery on stage, and deus ex machina – standard devices still used today. Our design features each artist’s portrait, lit to create interplay of light and shadow to highlight the details.
