For the ancient Greeks the notion of friendship was deeply rooted in reciprocity, a profound sense of mutual collaboration fostered through exchanging favors, gifts, and support. Helping friends was both a sacred responsibility and a way to ensure political, social and military alliances.
The maxim "ΦΙΛΟΙΣ ΒΟΗΘΕΙ" once inscribed at the entrance of the temple of Apollo at Delphi advises the worshipers to help friends.
In our design, the Delphic maxim is shown between two tripods, a symbol of Apollo and his oracle.
