When a Roman emperor died, they supposedly went through the process of “apotheosis” – transforming them into an immortal god. According to the Apocolocyntosis, however, upon Claudius’ death in AD 54 he went through a very different process – a "pumpkinization" that was more reflective of his rule and persona (at least according to the author). Our design is a modern take on this brilliant work of political satire that celebrates the ancient work as well as the Halloween season!
