The human soul and its post-mortem survival dominated nearly every facet of ancient Egyptian society, especially its art. Ancient Egyptians believed one's soul was composed of multiple parts, which integrated to create each individual in this world and the next. Our Egyptian Soul design has at its center a symbol representing the "whole," which included both life and afterlife. On either side are the six spiritual "elements" that together create this whole and insure its survival after death. From left to right these are: the Ib (heart); the Akh (intellect); and the Ka ("Life- Force"); the Ba ("personality"); the Sheut (shadow);and the Ren (name).
