Bathing was one of the most common activities in Roman culture. The second largest baths in Rome were the Thermae Antoninianae, inaugurated by the emperor Caracalla in AD 216. Surrounding the baths were exercise areas, libraries, and gardens to provide a comprehensive entertainment experience for the patrons. Our design is an artistic rendering of a mosaic from the western exercise grounds. It is exceptional not only for its intricate scale pattern but also its materials, which include the marbles Verde Antico from Greece, Carrara and Giallo Antico from Italy, and purple Porphyry from Egypt.
