In Aztec mythology, Xochipilli, the god whose name means “Prince of Flowers” was the patron of all life’s pleasures. He was especially linked with artistic creativity and inspiration associated with music, dance, painting, writing, and weaving.

Our design features front and back views of a statue of Xochipilli dated to the 16th century AD. The god is portrayed singing with a masked face, cross-legged and care free. His body is decorated with carved flowers of psychotropic plants and hallucinogenic mushrooms. The figure of Xochipilli is surrounded by expanding colored rings of himself, creating an effect echoing “tie-dye” fashion from the 1960s and 70s.
