Nerva. Trajan. Hadrian. Antoninus Pius. Marcus Aurelius. Known collectively as the “Five Good Emperors,” they reigned AD 98-180 – a period when the Roman Empire reached its greatest territorial extent and economic prosperity.
Inspired by vintage album covers of the 60’s and 70’s, our design features a portrait bust of each emperor arranged in chronological order. The lighting highlights the stylistic development of portraiture during this era, from the realistic simplicity of Nerva to the baroque style of Marcus Aurelius with its strong interplay of light and shadow.
