The aphorism "gnothi c'auton" ("Know Thyself)" was inscribed in the forecourt of the Temple of Apollo at Delphi. It was one of the Delphic maxims, 147 sayings supposedly given to the Greeks by Apollo through his Oracle.
Our design features an artistic rendering of a 4th century AD memento mori mosaic that incorporates this famous maxim. The text is accompanied by a reclining skeleton, intended to remind the viewer of their own mortality and to live life while alive.
