Ancient Peruvian textile imagery is not simply ornamental. It is a visual language that was used by the Andean people to record knowledge and events. Andean weavers were like ancient scribes using thread instead of a stylus.
Traditional Andean designs are representations of the natural environment and demonstrate the inspiration of the weavers.
Our design is an artistic rendering of a rare marine-style tapestry panel that is more than 600 years old. It features rows of brightly colored crayfish interspersed with small stylized fish conveying the warmth and vitality of the Peruvian people.
