This design features a Corinthian-style helmet, one of the most iconic pieces of Greek military equipment worn by Hoplite soldiers from the 7th-4th c. BC. It is accompanied by the epigram of Simonides, inscribed on the epitaph at Thermopylae marking the spot where the 300 Spartans opposing the army of Xerxes perished.
