This double-sided reversible top features artistic renderings of patterns found on two Roman mosaic glass vessels dating to the late 1st century BC – early 1st century AD. They were created by binding rods of colored glass together, heating, and fusing them to form a basic pattern. The finished rods were then cut crosswise, assembled, and fused to create the final product.
