Mycenaean Figurines Tote

Regular price $19.99
Female figurines like these are found throughout the Mycenaean world and date back to ca. 1450-1100 BC. The three types are tau (τ), psi (ψ), and phi (Φ), after the letters of the Greek alphabet they resemble. They wear long patterned dresses with their arms either folded, raised, or by their sides. Their function/purpose is unknown, although it has been suggested that it changed based on the context they were used. Possible interpretations include children's toys, votive figurines (of goddesses or worshipers), and/or grave offerings.
